Tarte Tatin originated in the 1880's, invented by happenstance by one of the Tatin sisters who ran the Hôtel Tatin. The legend goes Stéphanie Tatin was baking a traditional apple pie but accidentally cooked the apples in butter and sugar for too long, and in an effort to salvage it, the tarte Tatin was born. With notes of caramelized apples, brown sugar and, of course, butter, this scent will have you feeling like you've got your own scrumptious apple tart cooking in the oven.
